I took about seven months off from teaching. It was a conscious decision, and like all things, a subconscious one as well. Life was transforming. Fast. I moved to a valley where the mountains meet the sea, bought my first house with no prior experience, started a new part-time job working for an author I deeply admire, and finished a short film. The winter months brought me into an inward spiral, reconfiguring my work days to be balanced with nourishing walks to the river bottom, home cooked meals, resurrecting my forgotten movement practice, and heart to hearts with new friends. As usual I’ve been writing: a new film with my dear friend Nora called LITERALLY DYING inspired by her incredible story (check out her Substack here), another script about jealously and making art, delicious prose in my weekly Tuesday night writing group, the odd haiku, emails, captions, and endless texts.
Spring has inspired me to emerge and I’m dipping my toes back into sharing public offerings and 1:1 sessions. Facilitating workshops and working with folks to help them realize their creative potential is really fun and fulfilling for me! I love to share my personal practices, both concrete and mystical, for manifesting projects, generating endless creativity, and bringing the full spectrums of our demons and beauty to our work. Honestly, it’s such a joy. Here’s a bit about my upcoming offerings.
SPILL THE TEA is undeniably going to be a lot of fun. Join me and one of my dearest, most radical friends Adriana Rizzolo for a free hour of liberating the most judgmental, shady parts of ourselves through embodied writing. In this workshop, we will explore how intimacy, honesty, humor, and ownership can bring us into more authentic creative expression. I’ve been in “spiritual” spaces for almost twenty years and let me tell you something—everyone gossips! We’re creating a writing workshop where we don’t have to turn away from these impulses, but liberate these gems of truth and polish them into radiant creative work. Sign up here. It’s free!
In the BIG IDEA writing workshop, we will make the mystical process of coming up with ideas grounded, connected, and fun. Creative work is a generative and generous process. And I believe it doesn’t have to be draining. In fact, creative work gives me energy. Big Ideas are the ideas that carry us across the tumultuous ocean of artistic pursuit. But how do we know which ideas are worth pursuing? Can we trust that an idea is “good” or “original” enough? Maybe we feel like we have no ideas, or too many ideas and collapse into paralysis, or can’t seem to follow through with anything to completion, or find ourselves burning out after every project. I’ve done all of these things and over many years, have refined my process to know what sparks truly light me up. In a time where lots of people seem most comfortable pointing out what is lacking, creative people are busy coming up with Big Ideas to make great work that liberates themselves and all beings! Come learn about my process of following the golden threads of inspiration through a body-centered approach. You will write a lot and leave with great ideas to pursue. Sign up here. $44.
I hope to see you at one or both of these offerings!
